Helping Your Skin Catch Up After Mounjaro

Reaching your goal weight through Mounjaro or similar GLP-1 medications is a life-changing milestone. However, many of my clients in Basingstoke find themselves facing a secondary, often frustrating challenge: Skin Laxity.

When weight loss happens rapidly, the fat cells (adipocytes) shrink faster than the skin’s structural framework can adapt. This leaves behind a “skin envelope” that feels thin, empty, and lacks its former “snap.” This “melted” appearance is a biological reality of rapid volume loss, but it is one that can be managed without resorting to invasive surgery.

Why “Melted” Skin Occurs

Your skin is held together by a dense matrix of Collagen (for strength) and Elastin (for elasticity). When skin is stretched over a long period, these fibers can become damaged or “over-extended.”

Once the underlying fat is gone, the skin doesn’t automatically shrink back. Without intervention, the body may take years to remodel that tissue—and in some cases, it may never fully retract on its own. This is where medical-grade laser intervention becomes essential to bridge the gap between your old shape and your new one.

The Elipsa Skin Retraction Protocol

In my clinic, I use a specific combination of Pico Laser and E-LIGHT (Radio Frequency + IPL) to force the skin into a state of “remodeling.” This isn’t a surface-level fix; we are communicating with the deep dermal layers to change the skin’s architecture.

1. Immediate Contraction with E-LIGHT

The first step uses E-LIGHT to deliver controlled thermal energy deep into the dermis. When collagen fibers are heated to a specific temperature, they undergo an immediate structural change called triple-helix contraction. This provides an immediate “tightening” effect, much like shrink-wrapping a surface.

2. Cellular Re-thickening with Pico Laser

While E-LIGHT handles the immediate tightening, the Pico Laser handles the long-term “re-thickening.” The Pico Laser creates microscopic “optical breakdowns” in the tissue. This signals to your brain that the area needs urgent repair, triggering your body to flood the area with high-quality, Type I collagen. Over the following weeks, this new collagen “fills in” the empty spaces, making the skin feel thicker and firmer.

A Non-Invasive Path Forward

For many, the jump from weight loss medication to a surgical tummy tuck feels too extreme. Laser skin retraction offers a powerful middle ground with no general anaesthesia and zero downtime. You’ve done the hard work of managing your health; now, let’s ensure your skin reflects that effort.
